How to Ai proof yourself in the modern day
Today we're discussing how to AI-proof yourself in the modern day. I'm going to share how I use AI in a way that lets me have the benefits of it without diluting my own humanity. This is my perspective. Take what works, leave what doesn't.
Every convenience has a cost
Firstly, we have to understand that every convenience we gain in this world comes with a drawback.
Take food delivery. Uber Eats, any of them. They give you the convenience of food right to your door. We're naturally drawn to what's most convenient, the path of least resistance.
But what do we lose? We lose going out into the world, the walk to the shop, and the quality of the food. We often lose the human connection, the small interaction with the people working there, or the people we might have met on the way.
So much of our happiness and fulfilment comes from other people and connection with them. So the real sacrifice hidden inside this convenience is one of our core needs. That, and the skill of cooking, or talking to people. There's many other knock on effects that go beyond the scope of this letter.

AI is no different.
But with this surge of AI and technology, we tend to treat the convenience as groundbreaking, mind-blowing, and ask how did we ever function without it?
But we have to look at Ai the same way we look at everything else, the benefits and the drawbacks together.
So if we use this convenience without conscious awareness, what are we actually giving up?
Where AI quietly takes from us
(1) The first thing is we start to outsource our own thinking.
Instead of sitting with a situation, thinking it through, sitting with a few solutions and choosing the best one, we go straight for the fast answer.
The thing is, you might not make decisions that way. You might not need to weigh every option. You might need to feel into it, and let some time pass before the right answer arrives. It depends on how you're uniquely wired to make decisions.
When we hand that over, we lose our critical thinking, and we start making choices based on what a chatbot tells us is right (as if there's one right way) instead of choosing what's right for us.
(2) The second is that we start to dilute our own creativity.
Your signal is the very thing gives you the capacity to create amazing things, to build businesses, to make art, to express yourself in a way that is uniquely you and is a gift to the world.
That gets diluted when you filter everything through the chatbot. When you use it as the source of the creativity, or you dull down your own essence because the machine sounds better, you're watering down the exact thing you're here to give.
It's not that AI can't help with creativity. I personally use it toward the end of a creative project, if there's a real use for it.
(3) The third is that it can quietly become a way to bypass your own emotions.
I talk about feeling your emotions a lot. It's a huge part of your inner transformation. When we use AI to skip past feeling our feelings and instead reach for a solution to avoid it, two things happen:
- We lose trust in ourselves and our ability to feel certain in uncertainty.
- We start outsourcing our emotional process to a machine, jumping to solutions faster than we need to.
Put those drawbacks together, and if none of it is met with conscious awareness, something important happens. Our humanity gets stripped away.
The tool becomes a master to us, instead of a faithful servant.
What I do instead
Here's some of what I'm doing about it. I prioritise time in nature. Time in silence and stillness. I let myself be with my own thoughts and my own emotions. I let myself receive ideas, contemplate, and sit with things a little longer than I normally would.
I know for myself when I take more time in nature, I connect to an intelligence far bigger than AI. Especially by the water, there's something magic about the ocean.

That greater intelligence is that quieter voice that speaks through you. The one that hands you the big idea in the shower, or on a random walk when you're not thinking about anything, or when you left your phone behind.
That is where our real power lives. And when you understand that this is the primary source, the thing that brings you the most fulfilment and joy, you also start to see that it brings you the best results too.
While everyone is rushing to use AI to make more content, faster, at higher and higher volume, they're diluting the signal of what they put out. That's the AI slop everyone's starting to talk about.
When you slow down and take more time, what you put out is stronger. More potent. More real. More you. And as we go further into all of this, that's exactly what's going to stand out. It already does.
Great art and great music, you can feel it. You know it the moment you hear it, next to an AI-produced track. It's just different.
When you play with the idea that the signal we're talking about here is the core, always available to you, then you can finally see AI as what it is. A tool.
We're here to express what we came to express. As a refinement tool, Ai can be great. But the moment that refining strips out the essence of what you're here to share, it stops helping and starts diluting the very thing that was coming through.

So if you want to AI-proof yourself through all of this, it comes back to trusting the signal coming through for you.
And yes, it'll be uncomfortable sometimes. You won't always get an immediate answer. You might have to write the thing out yourself. But there's a quality to that process which can't be replicated by a machine.
We're not here to reject the tool. We're here to use it with conscious awareness.
The more you remember that you are the vehicle, connected to a source that lets you create, express, and bring to the world what you're here to bring, the more you trust yourself.
The more you trust yourself, the more creativity flows through you and the more success you experience as a byproduct.
How do you feel about this Ai evolution?
