10 Steps to Train Your Nervous System to Hold (and Keep) More Money

10 Steps to Train Your Nervous System to Hold (and Keep) More Money

If your income always seems to boomerang back to the same level no matter how hard you push, it’s not a mindset problem.

It’s your nervous system’s set-point

In the video below, a client and I discuss the correlation between "holding" more money and the nervous system.

In this 10 step guide, I’ll show you the nervous system-based process that helped one of my clients double his income after 18 months of stagnation without changing his strategy (if you want deeper support apply here)

This isn't about chasing more money, it's about re-wiring your inner architecture so that more money can arrive, stay, and grow sustainably.

💡
Note; take what works for you, leave what doesn't.

Money is Energy

Money moves where trust and alignment exist. Not just because of effort but because your nervous system says, 'this is safe to keep'

Everything in the universe including money, operates on energy and vibration.

“If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.” - Nikola Tesla

This isn’t just spiritual language; it’s quantum physics.

At the most fundamental level, everything is made of vibrating particles energy in motion, constantly interacting and exchanging with each other.

Therefore, it’s not just about numbers in a bank account.

It’s about exchange, flow, and resonance - money moves where there’s alignment, trust, and value.

It expands in spaces of love and certainty and contracts in spaces of fear and lack

  • Love and Certainty (high vibrational energy)
  • Fear and Lack (low vibrational energy)

Dr. David Hawkins’ Map of Consciousness in his book Power vs. Force quantifies this energetically:

  • Emotions like fear, guilt, and shame calibrate at lower frequencies - creating contraction and limitation.
  • Emotions like love, joy, and trust calibrate at higher frequencies, generating expansion and magnetism.

When your consciousness rises, so does your capacity to receive and hold more... money included.

Think about it...

When your body feels safe, confident, and open you tend to make clearer decisions, attract more aligned opportunities, and hold onto money with more ease.

But if you’re tense, afraid, or ashamed, money often slips through your fingers. Not because you’re bad with it, but because your energy is sending a signal: “This doesn’t feel safe.”

This can be known as your unconscious "financial set point" (AKA; the amount of money you feel safe and comfortable holding)

So if your nervous system isn’t wired to feel safe holding that energy, you’ll unconsciously find ways to release it (usually not realising you're doing it)

Maybe it’s through unexpected expenses, spending it all once it arrives then justifying it with logic, undercharging, or sabotaging potential opportunities.

That’s not failure...it’s just dysregulation

(dysregulation; the inability to manage and control emotional responses effectively)

🗒️
Financial stress often triggers two nervous system responses: shutdown or overdrive. When people perceive money as a threat, something unpredictable or unsafe, it’s not uncommon to react by pulling away (ignoring bills, avoiding bank accounts) or by overworking and obsessively tracking finances. These patterns aren’t your fault, they’re your nervous system trying to keep you safe.

True wealth recalibration begins when your body feels safe not just earning more, but holding more.

When money no longer feels like a threat, it can stay.

That’s when the rollercoaster ends and real sustainable growth begins.

So if you want to earn more and keep more without sabotaging the growth… here’s where to begin.

The Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Recognize the Invisible Ceiling
Most entrepreneurs have an unconscious financial set point. You can earn above it, but you’ll subtly sabotage until you fall back to what feels familiar.

Start by planting the seed of question:

  • No matter how much I make... where do I always return to on average?
  • What amount feels "safe" to hold?
  • What amount feels "intimating" to hold?

Identify that threshold.

Step 2: Address the Real Block
When growth feels heavy and you're an action orientated person the solution is rarely more effort.

It’s about your capacity to receive with ease.

Begin with this realisation:

The problem isn’t external. It’s that your nervous system isn’t calibrated for what you’re calling in.

In other words, your energetic body (nervous system) cannot hold the energy of that money (yet)

That's where doing the inner work and reprogramming becomes the foundation of changing this baseline.

🗒️
Example; You set a goal to consistently earn $50K/month. One month, you hit it. But by the next, you’re scrambling, undercharging, or suddenly hit with unexpected bills. Most people would just say this is chance, but nothing happens by chance. It's not just bad luck. It’s about a nervous system and belief system that isn’t aligned with that level of receiving. Some part of you may not feel safe, worthy, or ready to hold it. The "bad luck" in this case can be considered a mirror reflection of whats going on internally and a test for your capacity to have certainty in yourself regardless of whats happening around you.

Reflection Questions to Identify the Block:

(in combination with step 1)

  • When I imagine consistent abundance, what fears or doubts arise?
  • Who would I have to become to feel safe with more and what part of me resists that?
  • Where did I first learn that success, wealth, or visibility might come at a cost?

Step 3: Clear the Sandbags
Think of your potential like a hot air balloon. What’s weighing you down?

To name a few...

  • Childhood memories
  • Emotional triggers
  • Unresolved emotions
  • Stories and beliefs about what success or failure mean to you

These are examples of the sandbags.

“I threw myself in... I was given a set of tools in phase 1 to unblock the things that were really holding me back from being in alignment. It was like cutting the sandbags from a hot air balloon... I started rising almost immediately.” - Jordan Bailey (client interview)

Using tools like breathwork, inner child dialogues, and somatic reflection allow you to revisit those moments and change your relationship to them.

Your goal is not perfection, it's neutrality.

Start with a story or belief.

Identify one thing that comes to mind as you reflect.

Questions to Begin Dissolving the Block:

  • Is that belief actually true now or was it true for a younger version of me?
  • Can I find evidence of people who hold wealth with ease, love and integrity?
  • What would it feel like in my body to hold this new level and breathe with it instead of reacting emotionally?
  • What does my nervous system need right now to feel safe expanding at new level?

Step 4: Stabilize the New Set Point
Once more arrives, don’t rush to spend, fix, or upgrade. Sit with it.

Literally look at the number in your bank account.

Breathe with it. Resist the urge to spend it all

This isn't hoarding it or being afraid to spend it.

It's being aware of the unconscious need to get rid of it out of unfamiliarity.

Get used to being a person who holds that amount. Safety with money begins here.

Visualisation is another powerful tool to use here

You can spend time visualising yourself receiving that amount and becoming more comfortable with it before it happens.

🧠
The mind doesn't know the difference between real and imaginary

Now that you’ve cleared the weight... here’s how to feel safe holding more.

Step 5: Build Internal Safety
Your wealth won’t exceed the amount your body feels safe to carry. So your intention is to build that safety within yourself.

Here's a few easy places to begin:

(1) Create a daily nervous system regulation practice; starting or ending your day with 5 minutes of focused breathing (breath in for 4, hold for 4, breath out for 8)

Why: This trains your body to associate calm with expansion, not threat.

(2) Create rituals of stability; Anchor your day with consistency, similar wake time, healthy nourishing meals, gentle movement.

Why: Predictability builds trust in your body. Trust creates space for abundance to land.

(3) Trigger reframing & somatic anchoring; when you feel emotionally triggered, place a hand on your heart and name the emotion out loud.

Example;

“I feel fear right now”

Then ask yourself: “What does this part of me need to feel safe right now?”

Why: Safety isn’t found by pushing past fear. It’s found by meeting it with presence and acknowledgment.

These are not luxury practices... they are the foundation for stability.

But the effect isn't just on you, it's everyone around you...
Especially your clients.

Jordan said in his interview, better internal state = better client results.

The effect wasn't just on him, it was on his client results because his state of consciousness directly effects his clients too.

Everything is connected.

Step 6: Shift from Chasing to Attracting
Let go of the need to hustle for every opportunity.

"Doing" is half the equation.

Start seeing yourself as a receiver.

Speak your truth, show up online and in-person as you are, and trust the magnetism of that.

Clients aren’t attracted to perfection. They’re drawn to resonance.

Shifting from chasing to attracting doesn’t mean doing nothing.

It means doing from a place of alignment.

Think of it like the dance of yang (action) and yin (receptivity) one isn’t better than the other, but they must be balanced to create flow.

  • Yang is your sacred output. It’s launching, creating, initiating, showing up.
  • Yin is your sacred openness. It’s pausing, listening, allowing, magnetising.

When you live in too much yang, you burn out; overworking, pushing, micromanaging outcomes.

When you live in too much yin, you stagnate; waiting, doubting, hesitating to act.

Increasing your financial set point comes when these two are in rhythm.

You act from clarity, then open to receive without attachment.

You speak your truth online and in-person, then release the need to control the result

You build the offer, trust the right people will find it and iterate based on feedback.

Receiving is not passive... it’s a act of trust.

It’s what lets money and opportunities land without needing to be chased.

Ask yourself daily:

  • What’s mine to act on today with deep focus and intention?
  • Where am I invited to surrender, allow and receive?

Step 7: Know Your Triggers, Then Transmute Them
Notice what activates fear, guilt, or doubt in you... especially around money, receiving, and being seen.

Example; You send an invoice. Days pass. No response. Suddenly, your chest tightens.

Thoughts rush in; “Did I charge too much? Are they ghosting me? Maybe I shouldn’t have asked at all…”

This is a trigger.

But it’s not about the client. It’s about an old imprint, maybe from childhood, where asking for what you needed felt unsafe or led to rejection.

Your mission here is to let go and detach by catching it in the moment and choosing a new narrative.

To fully let go sometimes much deeper work is required so if you want support with that apply to work with me here

I can't stress enough how important this is - it's literally the unlock to everything (not just money)

These triggers aren’t obstacles. They’re invitations. Go to the root. Rewrite the story. Re-parent the version of you that felt abandoned, ashamed, or unsafe.

Step 8: Integrate the Inner Child & Higher Self
Go back to the moments where your identity was shaped. Meet the child you were.

(9 times out of 10 this causes the most dramatic shifts so I do this live with clients using a combination of breath, meditation and hypnosis because it's some of the deepest reprogramming you can do)

Let that part of you know they are safe, loved, and welcome to feel whatever they're feeling.

Then, invite in the version of you who already has what you want. Collapse the gap.

Let those two parts of you meet.

When you do this in deep meditation you allow yourself to reprogram your nervous system for safety at the root level.

Step 9: Allow Yourself to Receive Without Earning
You are not worthy because you produce.

You are worthy because you exist.

Just sit with that for a second.

Let this truth recalibrate your relationships, business, and how you show up.

Then take action with that knowing.

This allows action to be carried out from a place of wholeness, not lack.

When you act because you believe you're only valuable when you act - you act from lack (frequency of fear) which counter-manifests what you want, attracting more scenarios that produce more feelings of lack.

You confirm your own belief about yourself.

Let people come to you.

Trust your energy, action and intention is doing the work.

Then, let time do it's thing.

Step 10: Make It All One
Stop separating your business from your body, or your purpose from your relationships.

You are one being.

When you choose to live integrated, every action becomes an expression of your truth.

And from that place, everything expands.

The journey isn’t about becoming someone else.

It’s about returning to the version of you who already exists - whole, magnetic, and aligned.

you just forgot, but your soul knows.

That version is waiting for you to simply step into it.

so just walk towards it.

If you want to work with me personally to accelerate this journey like Jordan did, I take on a handful of spots for 1-1 and other offerings each month
